PSG Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
