In excess of 50 unaccompanied young refugees who vanished shortly after reaching the UK and while under the supervision of the authorities are still missing, according to data obtained.

Many of the vanished youths arrived in small boats or stowed away in the cargo areas of vehicles and are presumed to have been seized by criminal networks. A specific county is commonly the place where they arrive.

Government Figures Indicates Disturbing Numbers

Publicly available records has registered 345 children disappearing from local care, with 56 of those still missing.

Between 2021 and 2023, when temporary accommodations for children were run combined with other sites in different regions, 132 children vanished from the accommodations. From this group, 108 were later found but 24 are remain unaccounted for.

From 2020 and August 2025, 213 children went missing from care facilities for such children, with 182 recovered and 32 yet to be accounted for.

Ethnic Composition of Missing Children

In the two scenarios, Albanian children were the most numerous nationality to disappear, representing half the aggregate from the hotels, 68, and in excess of one-fourth from the reception centres, 65.

The second and third largest ethnic groups to have gone missing from both places are Afghan nationals subsequently people from Iran.
