Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her remaining competitions of the year as a result of a health issue that has affected her for the last week and a half. Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health ahead of launching next year's training. Her upcoming training are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating in 2026. She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day. She again required a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round. Her movement was noticeably restricted in the deciding set versus Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has been a concern at times this year. Those results followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats. The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event. She secured 28 matches this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open. Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth. She worked with Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open. The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled late this year. Raducanu told that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps. She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament. Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
