The British heavyweight stood by his provocative comments about wanting to “kill” his opponent during a news conference in Miami on Wednesday.

His words were first made on Tuesday when the boxer was asked if he would hold back against Paul, responding that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

Saturday's fight against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has attracted concern over the risk involved and the size difference between the two fighters.

Fury Calls Joshua a “Disgrace”

Ex- world heavyweight champion The Gypsy King branded Joshua a “classless loser” for his inflammatory rhetoric.

But Joshua, explained his mindset: “This is what I do, we fight. We have a licence to kill.

“I understand many people don't grasp it but this is what my job is. I take pleasure in what I do. The outcome, happens - as long as my hand is raised, that's what's important, respectfully.”

He continued, “That's just the mindset we have to have as warriors. I'm unsure if other fighters think that way. Perhaps they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a perilous thing. Anything can happen.”

“You hope your opponent leaves the ring in good health, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed knowing you just did your job. It was purely professional.”

Paul's Fiery Retort

Jake Paul, a massive underdog in the fight as a career cruiserweight, was equally fiery in his reply.

“This is a modern day combat sport,” he declared. “I'm ready. I want his strongest punches. I want there to be no excuses when it's all over. Let's kill each other.”
